O-I Glass is the world’s leading producer of glass containers, with over 4,000 employees in the Asia-Pacific region. The Launch Box developed an employee engagement program to increase awareness and accountability of EHS (environment, health and safety) in the workplace.
Stakeholder interviews with key EHS staff members and an all-employee survey helped to better understand current attitudes and barriers. The results informed the development of a communications strategy for the EHS campaign, starting with a focus on safety.
The campaign was launched with a ‘Journey to Zero’ animation and complementary poster series utilising an info graphics style that was instructional but engaging. With a workforce rich in cultural diversity, it was important that the campaign materials were easy to understand, engaging and communicated the key messages of the campaign.
Due to the success of the campaign in Asia-Pacific, the campaign was adopted globally by O-I and The Launch Box was responsible for translation of all materials in to 14 different languages.
The Launch Box won an International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) 2017 Gold Quill Merit Award in the safety communications category for the O-I Glass ‘Journey to Zero’ EHS campaign.
